Hemophilia, von Willebrand disease and other bleeding disorders (like factor deficiencies and platelet disorders) are rare genetic conditions that cause the clotting process to take longer than normal.

We know that living with hemophilia or a bleeding disorder can be challenging. We're here for you.

With Optum® Infusion Pharmacy, you get 24/7 support, access to a specialized clinical care team, and clotting factor and home infusion supplies delivered on time. You can also get registered nurse-led infusion training for you and your loved ones.

Meet Caeleb, a patient with hemophilia

Caeleb's severe hemophilia ruled his life for many years. But when a new drug that could greatly improve his quality of life entered the market, Caeleb's care team made sure that he had access to it as quickly as possible.

[Jennifer] This job is personal to me because I have two boys with severe Hemophilia A.

I want my patients to have the level of care that I want for my boys. I treat Caeleb like he's my own son.

 I want for him what I want for my boys, the very best. Best life, best care, best of everything.

[Cazandra] Hemophilia ruled his life for a very long time.

It does a number on you physically and emotionally, and not just for yourself because this disorder doesn't affect just one person, it affects the entire family.

You can empathize with the person, "Oh I'm sorry I understand you're struggling, "your son has this condition," but until you live with it 24 hours a day, seven days a week, you can't say those words and Jennifer can.

[Jennifer] You truly feel all alone a lot of times so to have someone there, to be there, to support you is huge.

[Cazandra] Without a Jennifer, it would be a lot more difficult.

Optum and Jennifer's team takes away a lot of the burden of what comes with managing hemophilia. That was a great job. Having people like this team behind us allows for us to have a normal life.

  • We always look for ways to make sure you can access and afford your therapies. We accept all major insurance plans. This includes Medicare Part B, Part D, Medicaid and commercial insurance.

    When you need copay help, patient care coordinators can search for open grants, foundations and manufacturer-supported programs.

    We’ll find out if you qualify. Then, we'll connect you with their programs. We’ll also help you with the paperwork. Ask us and we'll be ready to help you start.

  • Optum Infusion Pharmacy is a leader in bleeding disorder education. Our courses, available year-round, offer one hour of virtual or in-person continuing education (CE) credits for registered nurses and certified case managers.

    Our programs are presented by an expert in bleeding disorders: Nurse educator Sandy Puckett, RN, BSN, is a pediatric nurse with more than 30 years of experience. She has worked as a school nurse, adjunct professor at Oregon Health and Science University and nurse coordinator at a hemophilia treatment center. She has been with Optum since 2005.
